A day of lectures, discussions and cultural events, Dharma-Bee competitions on September 14 was jointly organized by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Sunnyvale Hindu Temple and Fremont Hindu Temple with support from over over 40 San Franscisco Bay Area organizations. Dharma and Yoga Fest is the culmination of a year of celebrations to commemorate Swami Ji’s birthday. The fest is being held in over 30 cities all over the United States of America along with HSS, with active support from various community and spiritual organizations.
Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu lawmaker in the US Congress who took oath on the Bhagwad Gita, in her address focused on the teachings of Hinduism and how it helped her combat tough times. The Council General of India from San Francisco Consulate admired the huge Hindu gathering and emphasized the message of Swami Vivekananda respecting all cultures. Presentation of four of the 16 samskaras of Hinduism was one of the major feature of the event, which included Athithi Devo Bhava. The participants were greeted in Vedic Manner and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Wedding per Vedic traditions sanctified by fire, was one of the unique features as the Singer M C Yogi renewed his wedding vows per Hindu tradition.
