Dear
Mr. Singh
Mr. Singh
The
country has been witnessing shocking incidents in the recent past where
anti-India Pro-terrorist slogans were heard asking for disintegration of the of
the country. Such incidents strengthen the hands of anti-national forces,
enemies of the country and terrorists who are foes of the humanity.
country has been witnessing shocking incidents in the recent past where
anti-India Pro-terrorist slogans were heard asking for disintegration of the of
the country. Such incidents strengthen the hands of anti-national forces,
enemies of the country and terrorists who are foes of the humanity.
Two
such incidents in recent days have shook the peace-loving patriots of the
country and the collective conscience of the society-firstly, the anti-India
pro-terrorist slogans by a section of students in Jawahar Lal Nehru University
on 9th February 2016 and secondly, in the aftermath of this, the organization
of a seminar on 10th February 2016 in the Press Club of India
wherein the backdrop of the pictures of terrorists, Afzal Guru and Maqbool
Bhatt, anti-India slogans were shouted.

Both
these incidents are not routine simple happenings to be termed as voice of
dissent of freedom of expression or anti-establishment or anti-Government
voices rather designs of such elements at the outset seem to be much grave in
terms of security and integrity of our nation. Jawahar Lal Nehru University is
premier University of the country and so is the Press Club of India, the
powerful centre of press. Therefore, anti-national activities in these two
prominent places seem to be a part of a big design to spoil the peaceful
environment in our country. In the light of these apprehensions GIA demands the
following.

following.
1. Take
strict exemplary action against the anti-national elements in the JNU campus in
which slogan shouting was only the tip of the ice-berg. Anti-national
activities have been happening in the JNU Campus for long and the 9th
February incident was not in isolation.

2. To
investigate the links of the anti-national elements in JNU Campus with
pro-Pakistan elements and extremists in Kashmir of elsewhere who provide moral,
psychological, financial and logistic support to them as there seems to be
nexus which can be established by many parameters. One such link is the series
of tweets of Pakistani terrorist, Hafiz Saeed in Favour of these JNU students.
JNU Campus and all other campuses of Indian Universities should be cleansed of
all such elements which are a threat to the security and integrity of India.

3. To
ensure that no repetition of an incident like that of the 10th
February at Press Club of India takes place and action be taken PCI for
providing a platform to anti-national elements as Press being the fourth pillar
democracy holds great responsibility to the Indian democracy and it must
fulfill its national duty.

Here
I would like to mention that GIA is a vibrant group of socially active
professional women belonging to different spheres of life, which includes a
Pro-Vice Chancellor, a President of India Awardee, Supreme Court lawyers,
internationally renowned artist/dancers, professors, mountaineers, writers, IT
professionals, etc. they have been debating and discussing issues related to
women, society and the nation at large through seminars, workshops, and writing
in newspapers and bringing out a magazine which have established a considerable
impact in the academic circles. We as a socially active and alert group expect
that your Ministry will ensure that the press will be more vigilant in future
and will not support anti-national elements by providing them platforms, We
also expect that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of
anti-national activities in JNU Campus and Press Club of India.
