Poles pat mutual pleasantries
Last week there was an interesting exchange of laudatory letters between DK and RSS in Tamilnadu. It all began when K Veeramani, President of Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) issued a lengthy statement about exemplary behavior of North Indian politicians. He cited the example of PM Narendra Modi attending Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter’s marriage. Veeramani had called for congenial relationship between opposing political leaders of Tamilnadu. On March 9, G. Bakthavatsalan, Uttar Tamilnadu Prant Pracharak wrote a letter to K Veeramani expressing appreciation over the fact that in the Statement he had set aside North-South divide and spoke for entire society. On March 15, K Veeramani replied to Bakthavatsalan pointing out that two major organizations of diametrically opposite view point’s exchanging pleasantries is a good example. It is not rational to show personal bitterness towards an ideological adversary, noted Veeramani. (In Tamilnadu leaders of DMK and ADMK are known to avoid saying a formal ‘Vanakkam’ if they happen to meet say in a marriage hall.)
