In a bizarre incident which happened a week back in Tiruchendur, Lord Murugan’s abode along the seaside, a couple’s immense faith and belief was tested by the God himself probably. This never got reported in any of the local dailies or at the district level too. Thanks to Face Book platform of social media. A couple, Husband’s name being Madhusudhanan and wife Angayarkanni, who have had familial, financial difficulties already, came to this seaside temple place to seek solace and blessings of the God.
Before they visited the temple, they sought to have a holy dip at the sea which is a normal practice out there. They chose a corner to do this and went ahead with the holy dip. As the wife took a dip and came out for a breather that she realised her 5-sovereign weighing Mangal sutra or the thali chain had gone missing which she was totally clueless as to how did it happen.
Added to their woes, shocked at the loss of gold, dumb founded they literally didn’t know what should they do next as, all that they could resort to was crying, lamenting and ranting. This was totally unexpected. Seeing the couple in distress slowly people around there came to know about what had happened and everyone indulged in searching for the Mangal Sutra. Time went by and there was no sign of the gold chain being traced in sand, that it slowly led to hopelessness as the sea waves had become more aggressive than before.
The couple now were sure of the chain not being found were more distressed that loss of chain had got added to their already existing multifold problems and wherever they go fate doesn’t seem to spare them from sufferings. All others were sure that even if the chain had been found by anyone who came to the sea, there is a possibility that they would have been tempted to take it with them, rather than to return it to the true owner.
Angayarkanni wasn’t convinced, suddenly she took a tough stand that until and unless her chain gets found she wouldn’t budge from that place. She was very sure that her lost chain would be found that too definitely. Then a call came to Madhusudhanan, from a very prominent person, to whom he lamented the happenings there. He was advised to go to the police station and give a complaint immemdiately and if need be, at the police station he can divulge the prominent person’s name.
As soon the matter was reported at the local Police Station, police force too rushed to the seashore. Next action taken was to assemble 50 pearl searchers and they were asked to get into the sea and search with all their might. Angayarkanni stood her ground along the seashore and was constantly and incessantly chanting all the names of Lord Murugan, like Karthikeya, Saravana, velmuruga, kandha, kadhirvela etc.,
One of the pearl searchers raised his voice above the sea waves, to notify that the chain has been found by holding it in his hand and to be seen by one and all. Angayarkanni broke down at the sight of her chain and police men were happy and thanked the person who found the chain. When asked what was his name …. he said SARAVANAN. Amidst the joy and cheers in the crowd Madhusudhanan ensured that the chain got back around his wife’s neck. They then visited the temple where they donated one sovereign chain to the God then thanked one and all gathered there with all smiles and relief.
Lord Murugan was also watching all the drama unfolding in his vicinity with smiles as he very well knows faith in God and in oneself, that too immense and unshakeable faith always brings victory or makes one victorious.
