The above scanned handbill on rumours about the supposed ‘doomsday’ was distributed by the Muslims at various places. The notice carried some sentences denigrating the Ramalinga Vallalar – a Saint who follows the path of ‘Service to mankind as path to Moksha’. “JOTHI” or “Sacred Light” which was lighted by Vallalar himself in the temple, is kept lighted till now over 150 years. This “JOTHI” describes GOD IS LIGHT. It is reported that the members of Hindu Munnani lodged a complaint based on this hand bill last week at Triplicane Police Station and demanded immediate action for denigrating the Hindu sentiments. Police issued warrant against Hindu Munnani volunteers. Suresh (Triplicane) – a District leader was arrested and remanded. Later Yakub, a member of Tamilnadu Thowheeth Jamaad (TNTJ) was arrested for distributing the notices.
