Not Muslim Menace, It Is Stupid Intransigence
Tamilians across the state are shocked at the eerie pattern of Islamic (Islamist?) preachers from foreign countries being caught across the state. While the state machinery is working overtime to break the COVID19 virus chain through social distancing, mosques providing hideouts for Muslims who had travelled across the globe, has developed panic among other citizens in the state. Similar to the Muslim foreign nationals found hiding in a Patna Mosque to evade coronavirus testing, 2 Thailand Nationals have been found in Sultanpet Mosque of Erode. The locals alerted the authorities and they were evacuated and quarantined. Similar occurrence was witnessed in Ambur mosque where 12 Islamic preachers from Indonesia and 8 from Burma were caught. They had been hiding with the help of local imams to evade the Coronavirus testing. Further, 10 Islamic preachers from Malaysia staying in Vallam Madina Nagar Mosque in Kutralam, Tenkasi district, have been quarantined and tested for Covid19 symptoms. Now, the harried Public Health workers and police are casting their net far and wide to find out the persons these have been meeting since their landing here in the state. Observers have raised alarm over the kid glove approach of the state government towards Muslims. India being a densely populated country, with 455 living per sq.m compared to an average of 160 living in the Western countries, it is important to crack the whip across all communities in enforcing this pandemic lockdown. It is to be noted that all the temples darshan and temple car festivals have been cancelled across the state and the police is strict to carry out the vigil among Hindus. The famous Arubathumoovar chariot festival of Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple also is not spared. It is high time for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister views seriously these and other incidents of mosques being served as safe houses for foreign nationals. He must take deterrent action to save the general public. Meanwhile, TV media treads the beaten secular track slandering Hindus offering praying god to save all. Puthiya Thalaimurai TV has the brazenness to heckle the announcement by DD National to re telecast Ramayana!
When Bharat Showed Positive Signs In Abundance
One country, one people – this fact was realised by one and all on March 22, during day long “Janata Curfew” to ward off Corona virus. From President of India to the rag picker on the road all clapped to convey thanks to the frontline warriors against the deadly virus including the medical, conservancy and police personnel. Hut dwellers and flat dwellers alike rose as one man to offer the 5 minute symbolic applause that day. Responsible citizens like Union Minister Muralidharan and film star Anupam Kher went into self imposed quarantine once they detected symptoms. As temples were shut, Hindu families were seen conducting weddings in front of the temple gopuram with bare minimum number of guests attending. Air India and Indian Air Force did a commendable job of evacuating Indians stranded in lands hit by Corona. To cap it all Health Minister of Tamilnadu, Dr. C. Vijaya Bhaskar’s proactive role in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic has won him laurels. He is carrying out regular inspection of the health screening facilities for the quarantined patients, and at the airport, where passengers are being screened. On his initiative efforts to tackle virus spread took off as early as January end. Service organisations including RSS and Seva Bharati have registered themselves with Chennai Municipal Corporation so that they could be asked to volunteer at times of emergency. As an outcome of the successful March 22 lockdown, the citizens have made up their minds to undergo another 21 day ‘stay at home’ in response to the fervent call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The March 22 / 5 PM Clang Was Loud And Clear: One nation, One People
With COVID 19 virus taking the world by storm, even as lives lost reached 25,000 world over, we have to acknowledge and applaud the selfless, tireless efforts of our doctors, nurses and other supporting staff including conservancy workers as well as the law enforcing personnel. Also laudable is the TN state govt’s stringent measures to contain the virus. On March 22 people across the country stayed inside their houses and at 5 in the evening clapping in unison reverberated far and wide. Yes, the citizens were out to applaud the frontline workers including medical personnel for risking their lives and making great efforts to trace, isolate and, treat the COVID 19 virus hit people.
