The life/plight of the “ Whistle Blowers” is most unenviable. They are treated with all types of treatments namely, Saama, Dhana, Bheta and Dand by the affected individual/group/entity /govt. Public are the “passive supporters only and not many will come to their rescue. If the whistle blower happened to be minority community accusing the powerful individual/entity of the same faith, the problems are more.
Ms Mary Rajasekaran , Administrator , Loyola College Alumni Association (LCAA) filed a complaint against Fr. Xavier Alphonse, Director of Alumni Association, of “sexual Harassment”. This was a sequel to her exposing the siphoning off One crore rupees of the LCAA funds by Fr. Alphonse in 2016. She alleged Fr. Alphonse harassing and abusing her at every instance. He sometimes behaved in a manner unbecoming of his position. Her complaint to the Loyola management has evoked little response. She further said in her affidavit to Madras HC that Loyola management dissuaded her from pursuing the matter with Chennai Police, stating that it would damage the reputation of the institute and Fr. Alphonse. Ms. Mary stood up against the powerful Missionary lobby for nearly five years in her fight for justice. Having exhausted all the internal redressal system, she approached the HC, with an affidavit.
Now Mr.Savio Rodrigues, Editor of Goachronicle , Activist-advisor, has taken up the issue and appealed to NHRC, NCW, etc. This matter is pending for the last four years, but TN media/ activists never bothered to raise their voice. Had it been a Hindu priest/religious head there would have hours of debate on TV channels, print media, every fringe/secular groups, activists including those with assumed Hindu names would have taken to street.
Loyola college, of late, has become the fountain head of corruption and rabidly anti Hindu. The institute has usurped acres of Hindu temple land, still holding after the expiry of the lease, only to promote anti – Hindu/anti- national activities. Will the Govt of TN act? Will the Loyola management vacate premises it occupies illegally? Will the secular, social, woman activist stand up, though late, and help deliver justice to Ms. Mary?
