During first week of February 2021, to the shock and surprise of public as well as shopkeepers, a pamphlet was issued in Trichy exhorting all shopkeepers of Kammalar Street to close their shops on February 8 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM as a first phase of protest against “Marwaris”. The pamphlet also urged the “Marwaris” to leave Tamizh Nadu, on the ground that they financially support a political party.
The pamphlet was issued by “Tamizhaga Makkal Jananayaka Katchi” (Tamizh Nadu People’s Democratic Party – TPDP), which is one of the 247 registered political parties in Tamizh Nadu.
On a mere reading of the name, anyone would innocently tend to think that this “political party” is akin to various other fringe groups (masquerading as political parties) for the cause of fictional “Tamizh Nationalism”. However, on a deep dive, it is coming to light that this radical Islamic jihadi organization was founded by one KM Sheriff, who claims to be the disciple of a notorious Islamic jihadi leader Pazhani Baba aka Ahamed Ali.
TPDP is a registered political party with Election Commission in 2007 and as per records, the party’s official address is in Pudukottai. In 2015, the party hit the headlines for organizing a Beef festival in the state along with other fringe groups, to condemn the Dadri lynching incident.
This time, the cover used by this Islamic jihadi organization to threaten Hindu community is “Tamizh unity”. Under the garb of uniting Tamizh speaking people, this jihadi organization is trying to create a wedge amongst Hindus and threaten a group of Hindus on linguistic / regional basis.
On a close scrutiny of various such incidents in the past across the country, any sane person would gauge that the template used by Islamic jihadis is the same – be it Kashmir, West Bengal, Punjab and now Tamizh Nadu.
The slogan used by islamist jihadis in Kashmir in 1980s was “Kashmiriyat” to isolate and weaken local Hindus in the valley. This campaign morphed into a bloody persecution of Hindus from their homeland in 1991 with around 2 Lakh Hindus rendered homeless and brutally driven away from their ancestral villages.
In West Bengal, islamists used the cover “Amra Bangali” (We are Bengalis) in 1980s to separate Bangla speaking Hindus and Assamese speaking Hindus based on linguistic lines, only to create a safe passage later for muslims from Bangladesh to illegally enter our country and occupy the land belonging to Hindus.
It is an open secret that the Khalistani movement is backed by Islamic jihadis. This is an old template used by islamists to create a division between local Hindus based on linguistic or regional lines, only to isolate and weaken them to ruthlessly pursue their religious agenda later.
Hope Hindus of Tamizh Nadu understand this nefarious design and stand united against these anti-national forces.

Emergence of this incident is worth taking note of for another reason: Even as the Tamilnadu election arena witnesses an unusual DMK Vs BJP face off, a fringe outfit baying for the blood of BJP calling it “a communal vehicle powered by the local Marwari money power” only brings to light that TPDP is yet another poisonous missile of the separatist DMK which is seen striving to come back to power in the state by hook or crook. Voters should take care to defeat DMK so that Bharat remains one.
