Stalin’s Seasonal Tamil Love

In Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin, the leader of opposition, appears to be unemployed and clueless. Whatever issue he picks up boomerangs on his own party and alliance partners. For instance, let us consider the NEET. Without any qualm, DMK projected itself as opposed to national common entrance examination for medical graduation courses. Citizens have realised that of all the parties, DMK does not have any moral standing to oppose NEET as it was partner in UPA government which brought the common exam. Also the people have seen through their game as DMK’s opposition is born out of pure commercial interests as many of private medical academic institutions are owned by their party members and relatives. Therefore, year after after, number of students taking NEET is growing steadily.

Thus, bereft any fresh ideas, he tries to resurrect the issue of language which paid dividends half a century back in his father’s days. Particularly, after Bihar results, a rattled Stalin suddenly ‘ became aware of  the languages being taught in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) schools. He says that Tamil is being neglected in KV’s of Tamil Nadu and reveals the ‘true face of BJP’  to promote Hindi only.

A media friend of us, serving nationalist causes has given point by point rebuttals and posed 10 pertinent questions to M K Stalin. Summon substance of them is presented for our readers:

·        Does Stalin know the reason for starting the Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) schools? KV schools were created for the children of Defence officers and later the scope was extended to include central government officers so that one could study in the same uniform curriculum wherever they were transferred in India.

·        The rule that third language will be taught in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools only if there are 20 students in a class, is not of Modi Government’s creation. It is based on the feasibility aspects. It is a simple question of demand from the parents and supply of trained teachers ready to teach Tamil.

·        Has he forgotten that the criterion with regard to deploying temporary teachers to teach a third language have been around for over 40 years?  Does he know or does he try to hide something?

·        Were not lands allotted by the TN State government to start the KV schools during DMK regime? If so, can you prove that Tamil was taught in those schools then and is now discontinued?

Look at their duplicity. National Education Policy (draft) 2020 advocates Three Language formula and all these parties oppose NEP for this very reason. By this, are they not closing the doors for students from / living in other states to learn Tamil? Are they not depriving the employment opportunities for Tamil Teachers all over India?

Knowing fully their intentions, Tamil Nadu voters will consider Stalin’s ‘ new found love for Tamil’ as cheap tactic for scoring political points in the forthcoming assembly elections. Perhaps, like Rahul, MK Stalin is also “ eager to impress” upon the voters?
