Every year RSS holds annual Route March during Vijayadashami (Foundation Day) across the nation. When the Tamilnadu RSS organizers approached for permission to hold annual Route March, respective police and district administration denied citing that the public tranquility was affected; public and private properties were damaged extensively during the Hindu Munnani activist murder recently. Adding to this, local body elections were to be held in Tamilnadu on October 17 and 19 this month. Representatives of RSS moved the Court for justice.

On hearing both sides, the Madras High Court has allowed to take out RSS Route Marches in the requested 14 places (Coimbatore, Trichy, Pollachi, Mettupalayam, Marthandam, Thackkalai, Madurai, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi etc). in Tamilnadu on November 6 or 13.

The Madras High Court brushed aside the Tamilnadu Government’s objection that RSS route marches could not be allowed at a time when the State is scheduled to hold civic polls later this month and while the situation is uncertain after the murder of Sasikumar in Coimbatore.

Allowing the plea today, the single judge of Madras HC said RSS cadre should follow a proper dress code (full pants) during processions and should not indulge in any unlawful activities during the rally. They should not raise any slogans that would affect the sentiments of others, the Judge said, adding that police could impose any other condition required as per law.
