Kolkatta. RSS is often the target of seculars, liberal and international media, who dub it as a militant organization which is a threat to the national security.
But, in line with its ethos of selfless service, RSS once again joined the frontliners immediately after the ravage of cyclone Amphan in the coastal districts of West Bengal. (South and North 24 Parganas including Kolkata and Purba Medinipur).
With heavy rain and wind speeds of 190 kmph, cyclone Amphan hit the Digha coast of West Bengal at 2:30 pm on Wednesday (the 21st May, 2020), and the impact was devastating.
The monstrous cyclone tore through the State of West Bengal, killing 80 persons and leaving thousands of people homeless. Bridges were washed away and the power and telecom sectors were severely damaged.
West Bengal is presently facing two major challenges at the same time- on one side rescue operations are to be carried out, while the other is coronavirus infection.
Amid, these challenges, the Swayamsevaks of RSS were seen in every of the districts, devastated by cyclone Amphan- from carrying out rescue operations to clearing the roads for smooth transportation of essential commodities during the pandemic.
