Understanding the significance of Murugan Bhakthargal Maanaadu (a joint effort of all Hindu organisations in Tamiladu under Hindu Munnani banner), held in Madurai on June 22, DINAMALAR, the 75 -year old prestigious Tamil daily newspaper with 10 editions spread across the state, carried the following report in its Madurai edition
on June 24:
Political Party Conventions and the June 22 Madurai Murugan Devotees’ Convention: A study in contrast — A Journalist’s Perspective.
A veteran journalist who has covered the conventions of various political parties and mega public meetings of the parties, compares the Murugan Devotees’ Convention and writes:
Even though lakhs of people gathered, there was proper order in the gathering. The devotees moved in queues. Wow, no one pushed forward at the food counters or to offer shawls to leaders on the stage. They took food only in the
designated area. No one sat to eat wherever they liked.
While the leaders were speaking and the cultural performances were taking place, the huge audience sat in the sprawling maidan listening attentively. No one was seen wandering around. Those who entered the program venue, left
only after the program was over.
The Convention started at the specified time and ended at the specified time. There were no obscene song or dance in the name of folk art ; instead, there were traditional dance performances imbued with devotion.
No one drank alcohol and indulged in quarrel; many were fasting to attend the divine meet. Their reverence looked as if they were going to a temple.
Lakhs of people were there. All sat listening to the announcements from the stage. When it rained, no one moved. But when it rains like this at a political party conference, the people sitting there would hold their seat (chair) over their
heads like an umbrella; they would simply walk away carrying the chairs.
Although the Murugan devotees present there had their own political views, there was no shouting and jaijaikar for any leader; no slogans. There was no shouting in the venue. There were no flex banners and plaques welcoming the
leaders.
Most importantly, no participant was brought by offering vehicle. The devotees from the respective villages had come in groups; they had hired their vehicles.
In the case of some political parties, local functionaries would pay and bring crowd to put up a big show. The crowd that came here came spontaneously.
Plastic water bottles were not allowed; water was served in reusable cups. So there was no plastic waste anywhere in the maidan.
After the program, an announcement was made to keep the chairs piled up in an orderly manner and pick up the litter nearby. Since everyone followed it, the huge maidan was clean yesterday (June 23) morning. In contrast, the garbage
after of some political party conferences would remain on the venue up to two full days, till the municipal workers would come and remove it.

मदुरै में 22 जून को आयोजित ‘मुरुगन भक्तरगल मानाडू’ (तमिलनाडु में हिंदू मुन्नणी बैनर के तहत सभी हिंदू संगठनों का एक संयुक्त प्रयास) के
महत्व को समझते हुए, 75 साल पुराने प्रतिष्ठित तमिल दैनिक समाचार पत्र ‘दिनमलर’, जिसके राज्य भर में 10 संस्करण हैं, ने 24 जून को
अपने मदुरै संस्करण में निम्नलिखित रिपोर्ट प्रकाशित की:
राजनीतिक दलों के सम्मेलन और 22 जून को मदुरै में ‘मुरुगन भक्त सम्मेलन’: एक पत्रकार के नजरिए से विरोधाभास का अध्ययन।
विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों के सम्मेलनों और पार्टियों की बड़ी जनसभाओं को कवर करने वाले एक वरिष्ठ पत्रकार ‘मुरुगन भक्त सम्मेलन’ की तुलना करते हुए लिखते हैं:
लाखों लोगों के एकत्र होने के बावजूद, सभा में उचित व्यवस्था थी। भक्त कतारों में चल रहे थे। वाह, कोई भी व्यक्ति भोजन काउंटर पर आगे नहीं बढ़ा और न ही मंच पर नेताओं को शॉल भेंट करने। उन्होंने केवल निर्धारित स्थान पर ही भोजन किया। कोई भी व्यक्ति अपनी मर्जी से कहीं पर बैठकर भोजन नहीं कर रहा था।
जब नेता बोल रहे थे और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम हो रहे थे, तब विशाल मैदान में विशाल दर्शक समूह ध्यानपूर्वक सुन रहे थे, देख रहे थे। कोई भी इधर-उधर भटकता हुआ नहीं दिखा। जो लोग कार्यक्रम स्थल में प्रवेश कर गए, वे कार्यक्रम समाप्त होने के बाद ही बाहर निकले।
सम्मेलन निर्धारित समय पर शुरू हुआ और निर्धारित समय पर ही समाप्त हुआ। लोक कला के नाम पर कोई अश्लील गीत या नृत्य नहीं हुआ, बल्कि भक्ति से ओतप्रोत पारंपरिक नृत्य प्रस्तुतियां हुईं। किसी ने शराब पीकर झगड़ा नहीं किया, कई लोग तो उपवास करके इस दिव्य समागम में शामिल होने के लिए आए थे। उनकी श्रद्धा ऐसी लग रही थी, जैसे वे किसी मंदिर में जा रहे हों। लाखों लोग वहां थे। सभी मंच से हो रही घोषणाएं ध्यानपूर्वक सुन रहे थे।
जब बारिश हो रही थी, तो कोई भी हिलता-डुलता नहीं था। लेकिन जब राजनीतिक दलों के सम्मेलन में इस तरह की बारिश हो, तो वहां बैठे लोग
अपनी कुर्सी को छतरी की तरह सिर पर रख लेते थे, कुर्सी उठाकर चले जाते थे। हालांकि वहां मौजूद मुरुगन भक्तों के अपने-अपने राजनीतिक विचार थे, लेकिन किसी नेता के लिए जयजयकार नहीं हुआ, कोई नारेबाजी नहीं हुई।
आयोजन स्थल पर कोई शोर-शराबा नहीं हुआ। नेताओं के स्वागत में कोई फ्लेक्स बैनर या पट्टिका नहीं लगी थी। सबसे बड़ी बात यह रही कि किसी भी प्रतिभागी को वाहन देकर नहीं लाया गया। संबंधित गांवों से आए भक्त समूह में आए थे, उन्होंने अपने वाहन किराए पर लिए थे। कुछ राजनीतिक दलों के मामले में स्थानीय पदाधिकारी पैसे देकर भीड़ लाते हैं और बड़ा शो आयोजित करते हैं। यहां जो भीड़ आई है,
वह अपने आप आई।
प्लास्टिक की पानी की बोतलों की अनुमति नहीं थी; पानी को पुन: उपयोग किए जा सकने वाले कपों में परोसा गया। इसलिए मैदान में कहीं भी प्लास्टिक का कचरा नहीं था।
कार्यक्रम के बाद, कुर्सियों को व्यवस्थित तरीके से रखने और आस-पास के कूड़े को उठाने की घोषणा की गई। चूंकि सभी ने इसका पालन किया, इसलिए कल (23 जून) सुबह विशाल मैदान साफ था। इसके विपरीत, कुछ राजनीतिक दलों के सम्मेलनों के बाद कचरा पूरे दो दिन तक कार्यक्रम स्थल पर पड़ा रहता है, जब तक कि नगर निगम के कर्मचारी आकर इसे हटा नहीं देते।

கட்சி மாநாடுகளும், முருகன் மாநாடும் – ஒரு பத்திரிகையாளர் பார்வையில்…
பல்வேறு அரசியல்கட்சிகளின் மாநாடுகளில், கட்சிகளின் மெகா பொதுக்கூட்டங்களில் பங்கேற்ற அனுபவமிக்க மூத்த பத்திரிகையா ளர் ஒருவர், முருக பக்தர்கள் மாநாடு பற்றி ஒப்பிட்டு கூறியது:
லட்சக்கணக்கானோர் திரண்ட போதும் கூட்டத்தில் ஒரு ஒழுங்கு இருந்தது. பக்தர்கள் யாசுவே சென்றனர். வாங்க, மேடையில் வரிசை உணவு தலைவர்க ளுக்கு சால்வையணிவிக்க என்று யாரும்
முண்டியடித்து முன்னேற வில்லை. கண்ட இடத்தில் இருந்து சாப்பிடவில்லை; அதற்கான பகு தியில் மட்டுமே அமர்ந்து சாப்பிட்டனர்.
தலைவர்கள் பேசும் போதும், கலைநிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடக்கும் போதும் அரங்கில் கட்டுப்பாடுடன் அமர்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தனர். அங்குமிங்கும் அலைந்து கொண்டிருக்கவில்லை. நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு உள்ளே நுழைந்தவர்கள் நிகழ்ச்சி முடிந்த பிறகே வெளியேறினர்.
நிகழ்ச்சி குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில் துவங்கி குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில் முடிந்தது. ஆபாச கலைநிகழ்ச்சிகள், குத்துப்பாட்டு இல்லை; மாறாக பாரம்பரிய நடன நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடந்தன.
யாரும் மது அருந்தி தகராறு செய்யவில்லை; கோயிலுக்கு போவது போல பலரும் விரதத்துடன் பயபக்தியுடன் வந்தனர்.
மேடையில் அறிவிப்பு செய்பவர் சொல்வதை லட்சக்கணக்கானோர் அப்படியே கேட்டுக் கொண்டு அமர்ந்து இருந்தனர். மழை தூறிய போது யாரும் அசையவில்லை. ஆனால் கட்சிகளின் மாநாட்டில் இப்படி மழை பெய்தால் அமர்ந்திருக்கும் இருக் கையை தலையில் குடை போல் நாக்கி வைப்பார்கள்; அப்படியே நடையையும் கட்டுவார்கள்.
வந்திருந்த முருக பக்தர்களுக் கென்று தனிப்பட்ட அரசியல் இருந்தாலும், தலைவர்களை வாழ்த்தி கூக்குரல் இல்லை; கோஷம் இல்லை. அரங்கில் கூச்சல் இல்லை. தலைவர்களை வரவேற்று பேனர், பிளக்ஸ் இல்லை.
மிக முக்கியமாக பார்வையாளர்கள் யாரையும் வாகனங்களில் அழைத்துவரவில்லை. அந்தந்த பகுதி பக்தர்கள் குழுவாக இணைந்து வாகனம் அமர்த்தி வந்திருந்தனர். சில கட்சிகளின் நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கு கூட்டம் காட்ட, உள்ளூர் நிர்வாகிகள் பணம்தந்து பார்வையாளர்களை அழைத்து
வருவர். இங்கு வந்தது தானாக சேர்ந்த கூட்டம்.
பிளாஸ்டிக் வாட்டர் பாட்டில்களுக்கு அனுமதி இல்லை; மறுசுழற்சி கப்களில் தண்ணீர் விளியோகம் செய்யப்பட்டது. எனவே மைதானம் எங்கும் பிளாஸ்டிக் கழிவுகளே இல்லை.
நிகழ்ச்சி முடிந்ததும் இருக்கைகளை அடுக்கி வைத்து செல்லவும், குப்பைகளை பொறுக்கவும் அறிவிப்பு வெளியிடப்பட்டது. எல்லோரும் அதனை பின்பற்றியதால் நேற்று காலையில் மைதானம் சுத்தமாக பளீச் என்று இருந்தது. ஆனால் சில கட்சிகளின் மாநாட்டு குப்பைகள் இரண்டு நாட்கள் மைதானத்தில் கிடக்கும். உள்ளாட்சி அமைப்பு ஊழியர்கள் தான் வந்து அகற்றுவர்.
