 A letter bomb, 16 years and a verdict
After a letter bomb sent by Jihadis exploded and killed a Hindu Munnani worker leader Muthukrishnan’s wife Thangam 16 years lapsed. Last week, Judge Vanhagaamudi delivered a verdict of life imprisonment to five Muslims in connection with the crime. Among them Ribai is the newly elected State President of TMMK (Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazagham), a muslim outfit. It happened thus:
On 3rd July 1995, Smt Thangam, wife of Hindu Munnani worker received a parcel claiming to contain the copy of Bhagavat Gita. On opening the parcel, it exploded and killed her. On the same day, in the same manner, another parcel containing bomb was sent to Jagaveera Pandian of Mayiladuthurai. Since he was not there, the parcel was returned back. Later, police found a bomb in that parcel also. Police registered the two cases and arrested 7 Muslims naming Aru.Ismail, Ribai, Kutubuddin, Raja Hussain, Zakir Hussain, Subair, and Abdul Azeez. Out of seven, 5 were arrested and they have been punished with life imprisonment.
Huge Service activities of Hindus brilliantly showcased
Global Foundation for Civilisational Harmony (India) organized a Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair 2012 at Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Ground in Arumbakkam Chennai from 25th January 2012 to 29th January, 2012. This is a unique forum that showcases the service activities of diverse Hindu spiritual organizations and exemplifies the Hindu philosophy of “Atmano mokshartham jagat hitaya cha”, that is one can attain salvation through service. Around 160 stalls have been put by various spiritual and service organizations. Puyjasri Nirmalanandanantha Swamiji (Adi Chunchanagiri Math) inaugurated the fair. Sri Thavathiru Kumaragurupara Swamigal (Siravai Aadheenam, Kaumara Math, Coimbatore) delivered benedictory address. Sri M Rajaram, IAS, Secretary, HR&CE, Govt. of Tamilnadu was the guest of honour. Invocation Song was sung by S.Mahathi, Playback Singer and Invocation Dance by Association of Bharatanatyam Artists of India (ABHAI). A former DGP of Tamilnadu, Sri R Nataraj IPS (Retd) and the Chairman of the Exhibition Organization Committee welcomed the gathering. 
Ashrams like “Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living, Matha Amirthananthamayee ashram, Chinmaya mission trust…” and traditional mutts like “Vanamamalai mutt, Thirupaananthaa Adheenam, Thiruvaduthrai Adheenam” Ramakrishna Mutt etc. also participated. Large concentration of visitors were seen at the stalls put up by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidhyalaya, Sri Sathya Sai Organizations, Melmaruvathur Adiparasakthi Peedam, Sri Narayani Peetam, Vellore, Seva Bharathi and Ayya Vaikundar Narpani Sangam, Kanyakumari. Jyotirlingas darshan, organised by Brahmakumaris, is one of the added attractions for visitors. Pictorial presentation of TTD’s growth through a topic ‘Then and now’ drew good response from youth, as they were able to see some rare photographs of the temple and its development over the years. Stalls of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Departments of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and the Archeological Survey of India recorded a steady stream of visitors. More than 2.5 Lakh people have visited the 4th Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair. The Sanathana Dharma Tree has won the hearts of thousands of people.
