Grahak Panchayat comes to the aid of Chennai Bus passengers

City Bus users of Chennai heaved a sigh of relief following a remarkable effort of Akhila Bharatheeya Grahak Panchayat, Chennai, (A movement for Consumer awareness). Here is the detail:
Only 698 buses were plying as ‘Ordinary’ buses charging lower rates. This was increased to 1308 buses following representation by ABGP to the transport minister. The 6-tier ticket rates has been reduced to 4-tier. This also goes to the credit of ABGP. This is the latest achievement of ABGP educating lakhs of poor bus travelers. It is remarkable that ABGP secured signatures of 5,000 city bus travelers of Chennai in its Memorandum to the Transport Minister.
