RSS-ABPS paid homage to all the distinguished persons who contributed to the national cause through their hard work by dedicating their genius, wisdom and abilities in various fields.
RSS-ABPS felt very sad that in the past few months we have lost many of those persons actively involved in national life, social work, defense and security forces and Sangh work due to some ailment or other reasons such as accident. We pay our heartfelt homage in their memory.
RSS-ABPS paid homage to departed souls and to name important Tamilnadu personalities – Dr R Nagasamy, Shri Ma.Ve.Pasupathy, Thirukovilur Emperumanar Mutt 25th Jeeyar Swamigal, Shri B.Govindaraj, and Shri T.Chakravarthy.
May the God Almighty give ‘Sadgati’ to the departed souls.
About the personalities:
1) Dr.R.Nagasamy (92)
A Doyen of South Indian Archaeology, Epigraphy and History passed away on 23rd January 2022 at his residence in Besant Nagar, Chennai. A great field archaeologist, epigraphist, conservator of heritage and a relentless warrior for a cultural awakening among Tamils, he was a prolific writer, producing several scholarly works. He founded the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department and served as its director for 22 years till his retirement. Nagaswamy, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2018, is widely regarded as a guru for a generation of archaeologists in Tamil Nadu.
His contribution in bringing back the Pathur Nataraja statue won tremendous appreciation. Nagaswamy also played an instrumental role in starting the annual Chidambaram Natyanjali festival. Nagaswamy has published several books including “Master pieces of South Indian Bronzes”, “Siva Bhakti”, Tantric Cult in Tamilnadu, “Uttaramerur” in French with Dr.Francoise Gros (1970) and “Facets of South Indian Art and Architecture”. Nagaswamy’s articles have been translated into 23 languages and published in UNESCO’s journal.
He was awarded the Kalaimamani Award by the Government of Tamilnadu for path breaking work on Sekizhar’s Periya Puraanam.
2) Ma.Ve.Pasupathy (90)
Ma.Ve.Pasupathy has published 40 Tamil literary works from Palm leaf manuscripts, written more 70 research articles, and plain text 8 literary works including 1832 Thirupudai Marudhur Puranam. He is a former honorary curator of U.Ve.Saminatha Iyer Library. He was confered U.Ve.Swaminatha Iyer award by Government of Tamilnadu. He was the Tamilnadu State President of Desiya Chinthanai Kazhagam (Tamilnadu Unit of Prajna Pravah). He passed away on 29.01.2022.
3) Thirukovilur Emperumanar Mutt 25th Jeeyar Swamigal (63)
He attained lotus feet of God on 9th November 2021. He has been propagating Hindu dharma among village people, particularly SC people. Emperumanar Mutt is one of the oldest mutt in Tamilnadu.
4) B.Govindaraj (91)
Educationist, former Pracharak and Chennai Mahanagar Karyavah. First State Organising Secretary of Bharatiya Janasangh, Tamilnadu, Founder President, Vidya Bharathi, Tamilnadu, Founder member and Secretary of Vivekananda Educational Society which owns and running 20 Schools in and around Chennai City. VES is affiliated to Vidhya Bharathi. He passed away on 13.12.2021.
5) T.Chakravarthy (74)
President, Vidya Bharati, Dakshin Kshetra, Vice-President of Vivekananda Educational Society Former Secretary of Vivekananda Educational Society. He played an active role in celebrating the 150th Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in Tamil Nadu. He also organized the celebrations of 1000th birth anniversary of Sri Ramanujachariyar in Tamil Nadu. An able administrator and Educationist. He passed away on 19.11.2021.
