This week, the Hindus living in Tamil Nadu could witness few spots of oasis in the dreary desert of constant humiliation heaped and venom spewed upon them by hate mongers disguising as atheists. Surprisingly, Hindus ponder on three such incidents:
Firstly, to recall the condemnable incident of vandalism and desecration that had taken place in the hill temple, closer to Siruvachoor Madura Kali Amman Temple, in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu was highlighted in an article titled ‘Descendants of Malik Kafur’ on 11.10.2021. Though, this is not the first time such a shameful act is happening in this State, what saddened the bhaktas was the fact that the particular temple had been refurbished and consecrated at a cost of Rs. 10 lakhs just ten days earlier only. On hearing this, many of the Hindu activists visited and assessed the situation. It made the readers realize the greatness of the hill which houses a Vishnu Temple and Shiva Temple besides the vandalized Chelliamman Temple. It was also felt that the kshetra must be protected as the hill alike Tiruvannamalai is a great spiritual centre which could have been flocked by many siddha purushas. Photos of Vandalized idols were viral on social media.
In the meanwhile, Police arrested one Natarajan as the person suspected to have carried out such vandalization. He is said to have confessed that he had carried out such demolition in search of valuable stones, gems and gold which are generally placed below the murtis before they are placed in the pedestal in the garba graha of the temples at the time of foundation ceremony. He is said to have committed similar crimes at Sri Pathanjaleeswarar Temple in Kaalnattanpuliyur village in Kattumannarkoil in Cuddalore district, reports the Hindu
Yet another Tamil daily wrote that the police suspected the alleged person to be suffering lunacy. However, the discerning Hindus take such claims with a bucket (not a pinch) of salt as the Police department usually closes the religiously sensitive cases with such suspected lunacy. We can see such pronouncements when the Hindu activists are murdered the police used to declare those heinous acts consequent to personal rivalry, real estate dispute, money lending matter so on and so forth. Hindu activists who see a pattern in such desecration acts are certain that they are perpetrated by determined- motivated anti- Hindu evangelical forces.
Second one is the clarification given by State Government that the old gold jewels will be melted and converted into bars and they would be spent for the upkeep of the respective temples only and not diverted to any other purpose. The HR&CE department made the clarification in the High Court in its affidavit in a case filed challenging the move of the government, reports the Hindu.
As Hindu activists caution, it is to be reminded that there is always a mile of distance from what is promised and delivered in reality by the Dravidian governments. Hence, it needs to be ascertained as to how the project gets executed and made operational when there is no public auditing of the temple accounts. Further, demand of the exit of governments from the administration of the temple affairs cannot be diluted.
Thirdly, the State Government’s decision to allow the devotees on Fridays to Sundays with effect from Vijayadasami day, Oct 15th. Various Hindu organisations have been staging various forms of demonstration pressing the demand of temple darshans on all the seven days. In the meanwhile, there were many petitions filed in the courts seeking relief where in government was repeatedly stated that such locking of temples on weekends were carried out in adherence of Central government guidelines only. The High Court also refused to intervene and left it to State government’s discretion. Finally, wiser counsel prevailed upon the Chief Minister to arrive at this much delayed decision. Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan!
Sustained efforts do bring desired results. It is neither the time to be complacent nor to feel diffident in such a situation.
