Protest demonstration by Bharatiya Kisan Sangh

Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, a Sangh Parivar Organization called for a protest demonstration on 29.1.13 at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai. The demands raised by BKS are:

· To declare the Tamilnadu State as a drought hit area and give compensation of Rs.60,000 crores to the farmers.

· To redeem the agricultural loans taken due to drought – this resulted in no production.

· Roll back of FDI and should prepare a separate budget for farmers

· Provide Electricity to farmers for not less than 12 hours

· Inter-linking of rivers like Brahmaputra, Ganges and Yamuna with that of Cauvery.

To gazatte the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

1194 farmers/volunteers participated from all the districts. Akhila Bharatiya General Secretary of BKS Sri Dinesh Kulkarni, Sri Gopi Ji State Organiser, Sri SriGanesan Ji, Sri R Sunderasan, State General Secretary D.Perumal, Sri Sankara Subramaniam, State Secretary of BMS participated in the protest.
