Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy, (2 August 1861 – 16 June 1944) the first chemist of modern India, single-handedly brought to light the history of chemistry in ancient India. Roy collected old and moth-eaten manuscripts from places like Madras, Tanjore, Alwar, Kashmir,Varanasi, Kathmandu and Lhasa to write the book. (P C Roy’s birthday falls on August 2).
