Nagpur, May 29: In view of the present situation where corruption and violence dominated the country’s life, the teachings of the illustrious Lord Buddha alone can lead us to a progressive, peaceful and prosperous life, said Indresh Kumar, senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary and social activist.
Indresh Kumar was interacting with the media persons at Deekshabhumi premises where he paid a visit on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. He was on tour to the Orange City to guide the participants in the on-going RSS summer training camp at Reshambag premises.
After paying obeisance to Lord Buddha and homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at Deekshabhumi Indresh Kumar had a brief exchange of goodwill and best wishes with Sadanand Fulzele and other trustees of the Dr Ambedkar Smarak Samiti. He was accompanied by hundreds of activists of People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) and Youth Movement.
Talking to press persons Indresh Kumar attracted their attention to the message of peace and compassion enshrined in the teachings of Lord Buddha. These teachings can lead the humanity on the path of peace and progress sans violence, he said.
Referring to Tibet and plight of Tibetans under Chinese occupation, he said that China had unlawfully grabbed Tibet; physically eliminated over 12 lakh Tibetans who follow Buddhism forcing their spiritual leader Dalai Lama to take shelter in India. The Nehru Government did not support the Tibetans then which prompted the Chinese to attack India in 1962. It was good on the part of India to accord shelter to Tibetans but the government should come clear on its support to their Government in Exile, Indresh Kumar said.
Warning about Chinese expansionist designs the RSS leader said that China has been trying to lay its claim on the Himalayas which never was part of its territory. The Government of India instead of taking a firm stand, and asking the Chinese to go back, has been adopting a very soft approach. The Government must give military training to youth between the age group of 16 to 30 and forma reserved force which can be utilized as and when necessary.
In response to a question of corruption in the sports, particularly, the IPL matches, Indresh Kumar said that government must come with stringent laws to curb corruption in sports. Anybody found involved in corruption must be punished as per the law of the land without showing any favors to him. He wanted to know as to why there was corruption at the top echelons in all fields of the country’s life. The RSS leader wanted to know whether the government was really serious on curbing corruption.
