Puri Rath Yatra begins, RSS assists seva

Nation’s most awaited Chariot festival of Lord Jagannath
begins today at Puri, Odisha.  The
celebration starts this day that comprises the construction and decoration of
Raths by numerous devotees showcases their enthusiasm.  The three chariots – the chariot of Lord Jagannath
which is 45.6 ft high comprises 18 wheels (referred as Nandighosa), Balabhadra
chariot is 45 ft high with 16 wheels (Taladhvaja) and Subhadra chariot is 44.6
ft high with 14 wheels (Devadalana) decorated with various designs and colours.  Over 30 lakh people are expected. 

Yearly, RSS seva unit Utkal Bipnna
Sahayata Samitee (UBSS) provides 9 types of volunteer services (SEVA) on the
auspicious occasion of Ratha Yatra and Nabakalebara. This year 9 different
services include:
·        
running four first aid centers,
·        
carrying patients in four ambulances
and eight stretchers
·        
providing assistance to the patients
in hospitals,
·        
distribution of safe drinking water
without using mineral water pouches in sixteen places,
·        
traffic assistance at twelve
different locations
·        
running information centers
·        
providing security to the three
chariots in collaboration with the local police and para-millitary forces,
·        
maintaining cleanliness and
sanitation in and around the temple ,Bada Danda and Gundicha mandir and
·        
making Puri a polythene free menance
for five days.
UBSS has mobilsed more than more
than two thousand swayamsevaks, doctors, and paramedics from the state of
odisha as well as from neighboring states like West Bengal, Simandhra,
Chattisgarh and Jharkhand.
RSS Akhil Bharatiya saha pracharak pramukh Adaita Charan
Dutta, the superintendent of SUM hospital, Dr. Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, purba
khetra pracharak Pradeep Joshi, khetra karyabaha Gopal Prasad Mohapatra, khetra
seva pramukh Jagdish Prasad Khadanga, Odisha purba pranta sanghachalak Samir
Kumar Mohanty, saha pranta karyavaha Sudarshan Das inaugurated the program of
volunteer services (SEVA) by UBSS by waving flags. The program was organized
under the guidance of president of UBSS, Prakash Betala, secretary, Mansook Lal
Sethia and organiser, Dr. Bijaya Kumar swain.
