RSS meet in Pune from Dec 29Satyajit Joshi, Hindustan Times Pune, December 15, 2010 Around 400 volunteers of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), who are active in various countries across the world, will gather in Pune by the end of this year. Senior RSS leaders will guide six-day meet for which activists from 60 countries are expected to arrive. Working under the banner of Hind Swayamsewak Sangh (HSS) out of India, RSS has strong network in more than 25 countries where workers carry out their activities through weekly meetings. Kailas Sontakke, Pune RSS general secretary said that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will be personally present at the meet for two days along with some other national leaders. Meet will start on December 29 at Pirangut, 20 km away from Pune, and will conclude on January 3. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to address a public meeting on the concluding day of the meet. Sources in RSS said that some of the activists are expected to arrive in India along with their family for which separate arrangement has been made. Activists of two categories – born in India and born in foreign countries but of India origin are expected to attend the meet. “Orientation of India thought and culture is the main purpose of the meet”, Sontakke said adding that such meets had earlier taken place Bangalore, Vadodara, Mumbai and Ahmedabad also. Meet will mainly include intellectual sessions, which will also include international issues, said an RSS official, on the condition anonymity. “This meet will certainly help us to spread RSS ideology in the world”, he said. The meet has been organised by Vishwa Adhyayan Kendra, Pune and has been named as Vishwa Sangh Shibir.

Volunteers of HSS normally meet through online wherein they meet on a particular day and time every week. One hour online shakha include suryanamskar and baudhik (discussion on various topics) in which various RSS officials have participated.
