Irular community from 53 villages in and around Tiruvallore participated in the
programme.  Samudhaya Pongal was prepared
by Tribals and distributed as Prasadam. Shri Tarun Vijay who spoke on the
occasion said that ‘discrimination must end; tribals and dalits should be
brought into mainstream in progress.  Equality
is the birth right of tribals and dalits’, he said.
Shri Tarun Vijay who participated in Pongal Vizha
celebrations organized in Adi-Dravidar colony at Nellikuppam Village, Cuddalore
District expressed his displeasure over the separate cremation ground and ‘two
glass’ practiced against Dalits even after 60 years of independence. He said
that it must end as it is inhuman, against our Hindu Dharma and a sin against
God.  He further cited out RSS Chief
Mohan Bhagwat’s Vijayadasami speech where he had appealed to practice the
concept of one temple, one crematorium and one well.
Later he also participated in the inauguration of
#Startup campaign at ancient Pallava built Thiruvathigai Temple, Panruti, near
Cuddalore.  Highlighting the important
aspects of #Startup campaign, he also appealed the people gathered to leave the
age of dependence; Startup India will unshackle tribals/dalits from the
atrocious traditions of discrimination and misery, he said.  Tarun Vijay was leading campaign for Dalit
entry to temples in Uttrakhand and was successful in opening of a temple in
Uttrakhand to Dalits and women after 400 years.
‘It also proves the discriminations existed, and we have to struggle to
end such sinful acts against our Gods’, he said.
In a courtesy gesture, Viduthalai Chiruthai
Katchi leader Shri Ravikumar presented a book titled ‘Talisman’ to Shri Tarun
Vijay which describes atrocities and pains inflicted upon Tamilnadu
Dalits.
In a gesture to support Jallikattu
and celebrate Pongal with villagers in Kalamaur Village, Pudukottai District,
he condemned the westernized mindset which dictates our festivals.  Our festivals are governed under the five
thousand year old cultural Constitution, and if some people are misusing the 68
year old Constitution to violate our age-old traditions, they will not succeed,
he said.
