RSS-ABPS paid homage to all the distinguished persons who contributed to the national cause through their hard work by dedicating their genius, wisdom and abilities in various fields.
RSS-ABPS felt very sad that in the past few months we have lost many of those persons actively involved in national life, social work, defense and security forces and Sangh work due to some ailment or other reasons such as accident. We pay our heartfelt homage in their memory.
RSS-ABPS paid homage to departed souls and to name some important Tamilnadu personalities – Shri Avvai Natarajan, Lakshmi Vishwanathan, Vani Jairam, Mayilsamy.
Avvai’ Natarajan, was a renowned Tamil scholar and a multi-faceted personality who headed the prestigious Thanjavur Tamil University for three years. was bestowed with Padma Shri award in 2011 for his contributions to Tamil language, was a news reader with the All India Radio (AIR) in New Delhi. He was also associated with the Central Institute of Classical Tamil, which was formed after Tamil was declared a classical language in 2004. He passed away on 21.11.2022 at the age of 86.
Lakshmi Vishwanathan, renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and guru, writer and research scholar died on 19th January 2023. She was 78. Among the many awards she received are the Kalaimamani from the Tamil Nadu government, the Sangeet Natak Academy Award from the President of India and titles like Nritya Chudamani and Nritya Kalanidhi, as well as the Kalidas Samman.
Vani Jairam, a veteran playback singer who sang over 10,000 songs in several languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bhojpuri, and Marathi, died on 4th February 2023. She was a part of the film industry for five decades, and received the National Best Playback Singer award thrice, besides state awards in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Odisha. She was also conferred with ‘Padma Bhushan’ for this year.
Mayilsamy, famous Tamil comedian and actor passed away on 19th February 2023 at the age of 57. An ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, he was known for his comic roles and has worked in more than 200 films in Tamil. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian.
