Hindu Munnani condemns the bad precedence set by State CM

Hindu Munnani State Secretary Shri Manohar had condemned that the act of paying floral tributes to Maoist Jesuit that set a bad precedence to the secular fabric of the state.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and other senior leaders, including DMK MP Kanimozhi and former Union minister Dayanidhi Maran, paid floral tributes to Jesuit Maoist Stan Swamy who recently died at a Mumbai hospital who was in judicial custody at Taloja jail in the Bhima Koregaon case.

Stalin and other party leaders attended the mourning at Loyola College, Chennai.

A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said Stan Swamy fought for the rights of tribal people in the country and often raised questions over how several aspects of the Fifth Schedule of the Indian Constitution had not been implemented.

Swamy had urged the Union government to form a Tribal Advisory Council to ensure safety, welfare, and development of tribals, the statement added.

Stalin said the tragedy that had befallen Stan Swamy, who fought for the downtrodden and the deprived, should not happen to anyone.

About Stan Swamy:

Jesuit Father Stanislaus Lourdusamy (a) Stan Swamy, who hailed from Trichy, Tamil Nadu, was a Jesuit priest and a human rights activist who worked for the tribal community in Jharkhand. He moved to Chaibasa area of undivided Bihar in 1970s. He campaigned during the 1996 campaign led by Jharkhand Organisation Against Radiation (JOAR) against the Uranium Corporation of India Limited Jadugoda mines for the rights of people displaced because of industrialisation, construction of dams and mining activity. Swamy’s main works was collection of data of the displacement of tribal people due to mining, townships, industries, dams, among others.

Swamy was arrested in the Elgar Parishad -Bhima Koregaon case, which relates to alleged inflammatory speeches made at a conclave held in Pune on 31 December 2017.

The case pertains to the violence, which erupted on January 1 in 2018 during an event to mark 100 years of the Bhima-Koregaon battle. The clashes left one dead and several injured, including 10 policemen. Investigators claim that activists at the Elgar Parishad meeting had delivered inflammatory and provocative speeches that led to violence the next day. The investigation also claimed to have exposed a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The police had filed 58 cases against 162 people during a state-wide shutdown in January following clashes in Bhima-Koregaon.

A case was registered vide FIR No. 04/2018 dated 08.01.2018 at PS Vishrambaug, Pune, Maharashtra regarding inciting people and giving provocative speeches during Elgar Parishad organized by activists of Kabir Kala Manch on 31.12.2017 at Shanivarwada, Pune, which promoted enmity between the caste groups and led to violence resulting in loss of life and property.

The Pune Police claimed the speeches triggered violence the next day near the Koregaon- Bhima war memorial and that the conclave was backed by Maoists. Later, the case was taken over by the NIA. Several other activists including Sudha Bharadwaj and Varavara Rao were arrested in the case.

The investigation also claimed to have exposed a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The police had filed 58 cases against 162 people during a state-wide shutdown in January following clashes in Bhima-Koregaon.

Swamy had helped the cause of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) through various civil rights organisations he worked with and actively involved furthering its activities, as per the NIA. He was found to be in communication with CPI (Maoist) cadre, according to authorities.

Swamy was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on 8 October, 2020, and had been in jail since then.

DIG, AV Homkar, Ranchi Range has prepared a report on Patthalgari in which he says that some tribal activist met in Ranchi under the banner of Loktantra Bachao Manch. In his report he also said that villagers were provoked for Patthalgari by offering a temptation of 20-20 lakh rupees. They were told that if you boycott the government schemes, then the said amount will be put on behalf of the United Nations (UNO) in your account. This meeting was held in 15 February 2018 and after 5 days of this meeting, the Patthalgari was started in Khunti.

The Loktantra Bachao Morch was formed in the solidarity of Damodar Turi who’s organization “मजदूर संगठन समिति ” was banned by government. मजदूर संगठन समिति is the frontal organization of Maoist. Damodar turi was arrested by police from this meeting, attended by many Maoist sympathizer. The activists, who were present in the meeting, are posting post on social media in the favour of Patthalgari.

Stan swamy formed a front लोकतंत्र बचाओ मंच to campaign against ban of MSS and arrest of Damodar Turi. He was booked under charges of Maoist’s link in various cases including conspiracy to murder of PM.
