New
Delhi. RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Ji Bhagwat said India can set an example to
the world disillusioned by the ‘failed experiments’ of nearly 2000 years, by
creating a peaceful society that ‘takes everyone along’.
He
was addressing the gathering on the second day of the three-day Rashtriya Sewa
Sangam organized by Rashtriya Sewa Bharti, an umbrella body of all the
RSS-inspired NGOs working in service sector. The Sewa Sangam, the second of its
kind is being held at Samrasta Nagar, on GT Karnal Road, New Delhi.
Addressing
the gathering of over 3000 activists associated with varied service activities
the RSS Sarsanghchalak said “we have to expand our work in scope and make it
more organized to fulfil our predestined mission of giving a new symbol,
creating a new peaceful, brotherly society that takes everyone along on to path
of progress and prosperity and peace”. Founder Chairman of Wipro Azim
Pramji, GM Rao of GMR Group, and Subhasha Chandra of Zee Media were prominently
present on the occasion.
Bhagwat
Ji called for providing service to the needy and neglected sections of the
society sans any motives or selfish reasons. “Whether somebody is a Sangh
Swayamsewak or not, Hindu or not, this has nothing to do with service. This we,
in the Sangh, believe. We believe that anyone who is needy needs service
….There is no differentiation in serving. There is also no desire of getting
something in return,” he said.
“If
we serve like that, the number of our ‘shakhas’ would increase, but that should
not be the motive behind service,” he said. RSS was established as its
founder Dr K B Hedgewar was concerned about the society. In the last nine
decades much had been accomplished, he said, adding however, much needs to be
done.
Referring
to Premji, the RSS chief said that he had rightly mentioned earlier that a
gigantic task is before us and all need to come together for it”. He said the
RSS had created a separate body, the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, so that it could
support work of social welfare. He added that service should be done as a duty
and not for fame or any other lure. “If we serve, even than what is the big
thing. It is human duty. That it was not done was a sin, which is now being
washed away. Generation after generation, we insulted our own society. Now we
want, that this society which is ours, should be made capable so that they say
I don’t need service but will serve others,” Bhagwat said.
He
said that the Sangh workers were serving people right since inception and in
1926 itself swayamsewaks had served pilgrims on Ram Navami.  Sometimes it
is said that the world reality is survival, but it is survival of all that is
important. Bhagwat said that though he is now referred to as the chief of the
organisation, he feels maximum pride in being an ordinary RSS worker.
Earlier,
Premji lauded the work done by many social sector organisations and emphasised
on the need for quality education especially at the primary and secondary level
where, he said, the government should play a key role.
