Court comes to the aide of RSS
On Vijayadasami day, being the RSS Foundation Day, RSS used to organize a route march by uniformed RSS cadres in the city/place where the training took part. By an application dated September 8, the Coimbatore RSS wing, sought permission from the Commissioner for the march indicating the streets in which it was to be taken out. However, the DCP by an order dated October 4 rejected But a petition was filed against the decision of the Commissioner. While the proceedings went on, Honourable judge Ms. Suguna had sought particulars to examine the issue in question, instructing the GP and reporting to the court that permission could not be granted amounted to not obeying the court’s directions. It was the Commissioner’s duty to furnish the information sought by the court. But the Commissioner could not take a stand without giving the particulars, even for that matter that permission could not be granted. This amounted to not obeying the court’s directions. The Judge said she was of the opinion that the Police Commissioner had committed contempt. Hence, suo motu contempt was being initiated against the official. She ordered notice to the Commissioner returnable in four weeks. It is to be noted that swayamsevaks who assembled for route march training in a shaka, police arrested three of them. Whereas, Police told the Court that two of them were absconding.
