No value in the world without character-based
power

Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat Addresses RSS Members

Shiv-Shakti Sangam Held at Pune with
participation of more than one lakh volunteers
……………………………………………………
Pune, 3 Jan: We have the tradition of Shivatva
and if Shakti is added to it, we will get a new identity. Character is our power.
Without the power with the character, one has no value in the world. Shiv- Shakti Sangam, a confluence of virtuous
and power, is necessary for attainment of this highest ideal, said Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday.
He was speaking at the gathering of the Shiv-Shakti
Sangam at the borders of villages Jambhe, Marunji and Nere near Pune, Maharashtra
organized by the RSS.  Dr. Jayantibhai
Bhadosia, Paschim Prant Sanghchalak, Nanasaheb Jadhav, Prant Sanghchalak,
VInayakrao Thorat, Prant Karyavah were present on the dais.
In his address which lasted for more than 45 minutes, Sarsanghchalak
Bhagwat took stock of the social conditions and explained the importance of
foundation of RSS and its work. He said, “It is praiseworthy to organize and
present the Shiv-Shakti Sangam in the 125th  birth anniversary year of Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar and on the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule. With the name of
Shiv-Shakti, we remember Chhatrapati Shivaji. This was the first king who ruled
fittingly in his situation. This was the king who thought of nation even in his
small kingdom. He was the founder of the ideal Hindavi Swarajya and thought of
brining rule of dharma. His way of organizing was based on the dedication to
principles. Hence, this dedication to principles deems the saffron flag as its
guru. Acting on the principles is not possible without the nirgun niramay
(formless and characterless divine). Virtues are need in the principles which
is the work RSS is doing. None of the six festivals of RSS are person-based
except for the festival of Shivaji’s coronation. Remembering King Shivaji is
like remembering character and code. While remembering the great men, it is
necessary to remember how they did their work and created power. We have the
tradition of Shivatva. ‘Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram’ is our culture. Neelkanth,
who drank the poison born out of the churning of sea, is our favorite deity.
Our journey is going on his ideal. The tradition of Shivatva is known as the
perpetual existence. Shiva must be adjoined by Shakti. The society does not recognize
Shiva without Shakti. The world does not debate on the vices of the powerful
nations. We bear them without any complaint. However, good things of good but
weaker nations are not debated. The better culture of that nations gets no
respect.
Citing the example of a felicitation of Rabindranath
Tagore in Japan, he said, “Many students did not turn up for his felicitation
because the students asked why they should listen to someone from a slave
nation.  We could not speak truth even
when we possessed it. Our honor grew after the independence, victory in the war
and nuclear tests. As the power of the country increases, the honor of the
nation also increases. The power is utmost necessary for this. Power means
acceptance. Even the powerful kings bow to the learned men with character, this
is our tradition. The power for us lies in the sacrifice and character. Power
means suppression. The thinking of power comes from the character and the power
with character comes from the truthful behavior.
Dr. Bahgwat further added, “Many types of beings are
found in the world with character. All existences are one. To see the unity in
diversity, one needs to look with an equal eye. The truth
has no place for discrimination and inequality. We should treat all like us.
The character generates the individual and social power. A
society battered by the difference can make no progress. The interest of the
society can be achieved only when there is well organized society which cares
for one another” and cited the example of pride and progress of Israel. He explained the secret of the progress achieved by that
country in last 30 years.
He said that this country is an example of what can a
determined society, standing on the foundation of the truth, can achieve. A
human stand on the basis of dharma by saying that all are mine. Dharma means
the one which connects and binds together, which takes further and follows the
values. This conduct comes from the loyalty to the truth.
Saying that at the time of writing the Constitution, Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar had said that we had achieved political
unity but it could not survive without the economic and social unity, Dr.
Bhagwat said, “We lost many battles not because of the enemy’s strength but
because of differences among us. If we do not stand forgetting all differences,
even Constitution cannot save us. A society based on
individual and social character must be built. The social cohesiveness cannot
be created through provisions of the law. Cohesiveness has to be imbibed for
which one needs sanskaras of the cohesiveness. Mahatma Gandhi would say that
politics without values, property without labor, business without truthfulness,
enjoyment without conscience, science without humanity and worship without
sacrifice are the social sins. He thought that eradicating these sins would
constitute the total self-rule. Hence, the total self-rule as envisaged by him
is yet to come. Creating a society having such total freedom, equality and
fraternity is the aim of the RSS and RSS was founded for this.
 Dr. Bhagwat said,
“Venerated Dr. Hedgewar founded RSS for the worship of Shivatva and Shakti. He
fulfilled his duties by participating in many campaigns for the upliftment of
the nation. Before and after the foundation of RSS, he participated in many
movements and went to jail. He was familiar with all types of ideologies. He
had recognized that there was no alternative but to create a virtuous society
for which he had found a solution. He knew that Hindutva was the thread which
bound together. He explained the values which expressed gratitude to all and
create awareness on that basis. The devotion to motherland is in the nature of
the Hindus and it has having come down through generations. The culture grows
on that basis and the forefathers are respected. The world needs this today.
Organization is needed to establish the Indian values. To create a society
building the national character and taking the country to the pinnacle of
prosperity is the work of RSS. The volunteer who runs at the time of any
natural calamity is the face of the RSS.
Sangh Swayamsevak is one who abandons self-interest and serves the
society without selfishness. This is the result not of the pride but of the
work which RSS is doing for 90 years. The nation does not advance on the basis
of leaders or governments. It survives on the basis of the society built on
character. The societal change happens through the conduct of the men with
character. Shiv-ShaktiSangam is not a display of affluence but a way to the
social change.
If the nation is not secure and respected, the individual
happiness has no value. RSS’ work means the power to serve the society without
relinquishing any familial responsibility. All should
participate in the work of social interest.
Prant Karyavah Vinayakrao Thorat took stock of the work
of RSS. He made an appeal for help to RSS and Jan Kalyan Samiti for the
drought-affected people. He appealed to give a miss-call to (
०२२) ३३८१४१११ for direct participation in the work of drought affected people. Sunil
Desai and Sandep Jadhav were the compeers.
Presence of dignitaries from all sectors

all sectors of life. The special invitees started to arrive at the venue at

the cultural field and industrialists came in big numbers which proved an
