31 years – ‘Martyrs Day’ today – death of 11 people and several injured due to bomb blast at RSS Chennai headquarters on August 8, 1993. In Chennai the ‘Martyrs day’ was observed by offering floral tributes to the departed souls.
Ramasubramaniam, Seshathri, Kumari Balan, Prem Kumar, Mohana, Lalitha, Desigan, Ramakrishna Reddy, Kasinathan, Rajendran and Raveendran – 11 innocent Hindus were killed by miscreants who planted bomb in RSS State Headquarters in Chennai.
It was identified as the handiwork of Al-Umma, now banned outfit led by Abdul Nassar Madhani.
18 people in the case were convicted by TADA court and three namely Hyder Ali, Abubacker Siddiq and Kaja Nizamudeen were sentenced to life imprisonment. Supreme Court acquitted the accused as the CBI failed to prove the source of RDX/PETN, the explosives used in the blast.
The hardcore terrorists went scot free due to incomplete investigation by the CBI or due to the technicalities.
